The Finding of Moses
Circle of William Edward Frost (1810-1877) oil on canvas, 'The Finding of Moses', 25 x 30in. Artist or Maker William Edward Frost Condition Report Oil on canvas cleaned, relined and restored 20 years ago or so, canvas still good and tight although a little dirty and would benefit from a clean, some retouching most notably right across the top of the sky where we would think a fair proportion of the dark blue is later, some blooming of the varnish showing on the right over the red robes and little sign of any craquelure though overall the work is fairly thinly painted, does have a signature W.E. Frost in the lower right corner. In an old but not original gilt gesso frame with some losses to corners and title plaque.
